Expat is a series of shorts exploring the idea of home through the stories of expats, many of whom live in a location they may plan on leaving.

April Melody Tan is currently a graduate student at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa. Originally from Malaysia, she’s lived in Iowa for the past decade. Details about her future are uncertain, but through her experience living as an expat, she’s gained her own perspective on what she values most and how she defines home for herself.
