The COVID pandemic in 2020 was a very uncertain time for many. Iowa PBS focused on “the helpers next door” by telling the stories of those who stepped up to help. I was able to pitch an idea for a short interview video and produce a segment of the series.

Saja Al-Saffar is studying to become a doctor, and her passion to help others has only increased since the pandemic. She is also Muslim, and the community-oriented nature of many holidays, including Ramadan, was a challenge for many in the community when the pandemic was at its peak.
